If you've clicked through to the site lately, you'll notice it looks different — on purpose. We rebuilt notyouraverageamerican.com on a simpler WordPress theme instead of Divi, so it loads faster for you. We also pulled the sidebar ads — they weren't adding anything to your experience, so out they went.

A Rumor We Couldn't Keep to Ourselves 🤫

We spent part of the 2nd Annual St. Johns Music Festival doing what we do best: talking to new friends. One of them turned out to be a friend of a friend who works at Alaska Airlines, and the word from inside is that after months of adding new international routes, the airline is finally looking at South America — with Bogotá or Lima the two names on the table.

While we'd love Quito, we'd happily take either of these. Selfishly, we're rooting for Bogotá — it's close, endlessly interesting, and home to places like La Puerta Falsa, a 200-year-old restaurant in the historic center that's been run by the same family for seven generations.

To be clear: this is gossip, not fact. But it's the kind of rumor we like passing along in hopes of making it come true. We're manifesting right now.
